March 2018 Yarn Club: Starry Night

Welcome to the 3rd and last installment of the Winter 2018 Yarn Club!

The theme this time around is inspired by Vincent van Gogh, and this is the one I know y’all have been waiting for... Starry Night! The colorway I’ve wanted to dye since I learned to dye yarn, eleven years ago. I do not know why it took me so long (well, yes, I do; I was holding out for sparkly worsted weight yarn!) but I’m so glad I finally got around to it.

If you’ve been following along on Ravelry, too, you know this may be the last iteration of this club for a little while - I’m taking a break from traditional club and trying out the HaldeCrate - a one month, sliding scale club, where I choose the theme and you choose the base yarn and what extras you want (if any). I have at least three of them planned... one in April, one in June, and one in August, and I am pretty sure by at least June I’ll have ideas for October and December as well. I’ll have a blog post about that soon, but you can read up on what I’ve been brainstorming in our Ravelry group.

If you chose sock weight, the yarn is Kathleen; a 75% Superwash Merino/20% Nylon/5% Gold Stellina yarn that gets 6-8 stitches per inch on a US 0-2 and comes in 400-yard, 100-gram put-ups.

If you chose worsted weight, the yarn is Jemisin; an 84% Superwash Merino/16% Gold Stellina yarn that gets 4-5 stitches per inch on a US 6-9 and comes in 200-yard, 115-gram put-ups.

If you chose swag, you might have already heard me say, but unfortunately the really cute little bags Kirsten made (out of Starry Night fabric, even!) were stolen out of my mailbox. The *one* time something gets stolen out of my box and it's this! Gah. I'm still livid. ANYWAY. Not only did she graciously agree to make more of them, but I whipped up something else -- little sunflower magnets. Consider them a "placeholder" swag until Kirsten can remake all the cute little bags and send them my way, and I can send them yours!

Thanks, y’all!
