Let me tell you about the 3rd and last installment of the Fall 2017 Yarn Club!
The theme this time around is inspired by famous art and artists, and this last month is not only a talented woman artist, Mary Cassatt, but she captured her older sister doing something we love; the title of the painting that inspired this colorway is “Lydia Crocehting in the Garden at Marly”.
You can see and read a little about it here. The majority of Cassatt’s work touches on the lives of women, both in private and public. While she’s most well-known for her portraits of mothers with children, how could we not have a painting with crochet in it, in a yarn club?!
If you chose sock weight, the yarn was Yolen; a 70% Superwash Merino/20% Cashmere/10% Nylon yarn that gets 6-8 stitches per inch on a US 0-2 and comes in 407-yard, 115-gram put-ups.
If you chose worsted weight, I’m afraid there was a bit of a snafu and the yarn is a DK weight instead of worsted. We shall call this yarn Midori; a 70% Alpaca/30% Silk yarn that gets 5-6 stitches per inch on a US 5-7 and comes in 275-yard, 100-gram put-ups.
