What are you working on this week? So far today it seems like I've one ALL THE THINGS; we drove to Jacksonville to pick up my Stepmother and Aunt, who were travelling, and while in that town stopped at a pottery supply shop for more clay and then stopped to have lunch at the most amazing Edgar Allan Poe themed restaurant. My stepmother is very glad I warned her that Vincent Price is on a loop in the restroom, reading out loud (it can be surprising the first time you walk in there). Also, I got to knit in the car because That Poor Man drove. Other than today's productivity, I'm feeling embarrassingly behind this week. I had been planning to take my birthday weekend off, so was prepared for that, but I wasn't planning on a broken tooth to also take about three days out of my work week. So although I have a lot of energy and a lot of ideas, I'm behind in almost everything. Or maybe just not ahead, which makes me feel behind (does anyone else ever get that way?).
In ceramics, I haven't had time to do much. I'm trying to glaze enough to get the kiln fired, because there's a custom order of the most adorable little African Violet pots that I want to get in the mail, but I'm having trouble making time this week to glaze. I'm hoping to be able to get enough done to fire the kiln Sunday. Also, I'm quite sad that this happened in the mail... that broken plaster mold you see in the picture above...? That was supposed to be a mold that's not made any more, a margarine tub -- I've been asked for them ever since starting to make butter dishes, and finally found a mold for one on eBay. Which was promptly shattered in shipping. I can't even describe my level of disappointment. It's not often that something breaks in shipping, but why, when it does, does it always seem to be something important?!
In soap, not much is going on this week - but next week will see a lot! I've also started to bring back in a small amount of hand lotion. I'm doing it a little differently than before; these are made to order, I'm only offering them in a few fragrances, but I am offering them in two different sizes. They will take up to 7-10 business days to send out when ordered, as they're made to order... you can read a little bit more about them here.
In yarn, I've just restocked a little bit of everything; primarily the Joy yarn base, but also a little Andre, Tiptree, and Lynn. Also every base yarn currently available in Purple Rain!
In notions, I've been working on photographing the buttons I took out of the kiln last time I fired, but I haven't had time to get them listed on the site yet. I should be able to get that done by the end of next week (I can work on writing listing while the soap is setting next week).
Knitting is one thing I'm working on this week where I feel accomplished! I ripped out a poncho I'd started two years ago that I realized I was just never going to finish... so I ripped it out and started an entrelac wrap I've been thinking about making (again). I'm holding two strands together at a time, and every three sets of rows, I drop one color and pick up a slightly different one... so it'll look sort of gradated by the time I'm done with it.
That's about it for me this week... what about y'all? What are you working on/thinking about/plotting this week?
