Although Under the Sea was pushed back a couple of weeks because of kiln issues, and then life got in the way and it hasn’t had a proper blog post introduction, it’s finally time to talk about …(drum roll please) … Under the Sea.
Under the Sea offers four different things: yarn (available in all eight base weights); a mug; an incense burner; and a set of small nesting dishes.
The incense burner (more photos here) is about ten inches long and an inch and a half high at the tallest part. While the glaze colors remain the same from firing to firing, the placement of the design may change from burner to burner and your burner may be slightly different than photographed. As they are hand-built, each one is a little bit different as far as curve and weight go. But ultimately… seaweed and fishes are here to catch the ash of your fallen incense, like treasures falling from a ship into the bottom of the ocean.
The mug (more pictures here) is a tall one; about five inches tall. It holds about 14 ounces and the design is carried around the entire mug. While the glaze colors remain the same from firing to firing, the placement of the design may change from mug to mug and your mug may be slightly different than photographed. As they are hand-built, each one is a little bit different as far as handle placement and weight go; however, I cut the mug to the size of the design, so the entire design, top to bottom, is on the mug.
The nesting dishes (more pictures and dimensions are listed here). Candies. Cheeses in two, crackers in the third. Olives and pickles. Candies. Keys, soap dish, trays on your desk for paperclips and ephemera. What would you put in these lovelies? And if the answer is “nothing, I’d just set them out and gaze at their beauty”… no judgement here. We feel the same.
The yarn (more pictures here) comes in eight bases. Looking at the above photo, starting at the top and moving counter-clockwise, the bases are Andre (sock), Jemisin (luxe worsted), Joy (sport), Lynn (DK), Nagata (heathered sock), Tepper (worsted), Tiptree (sock), and on the inside, Yolen (luxe sock).
Individual items will be able to be purchased from the above links, or if you think you might want more than one thing from the Collection, your one-stop listing in which you can bundle items (and which includes a 15% discount on purchases of $30 or more) is located here.
Thanks, y’all!
