Works-in-Progress Wednesday (08/01/18)

What are you working on this week?

In ceramics, whoa, y'all blew me away Monday with the August mug! Sometimes people say "oooo imma want that" and then there are only crickets, but this time, all y'all really meant it! They sold out in about an hour, something that very rarely happens. I think that might have happened with the Mermaid mug....? Anyway. In case you're interested if I make more... The more people who indicate they want one, the better the chances are that I'll make more; to do that, go to the listing, choose "august 2018" from the drop-down menu, and look for the brown "email when available" button on the left of the screen. The more people who leave their email saying they're interested, the greater the chances of me making more. An email isn't an official order, so there's no obligation to buy, but the more times I get notices that people want them, the more likely I am to take it seriously!

Let's see... I also - finally - had a good decal firing, so My Favorite Murder mugs and yarn bowls are starting to hit the shelves. Don't worry if you've never heard of that true crime podcast that focuses as much, if not more, attention on the victims and survivors as on the crime itself.... because chances are good that if you're a regular around here, you're going to love some of the catch phrases anyway.

In soap, I had a small stock update at the beginning of the week, and now I'm busy making more. What I'm making this week is more behind-the-scenes soap, though, as I'm working on the Sept-Dec Limited Edition soap fragrances, the Sept-Dec soaps for people in the subscription service, and some new soaps I'm going to debut at the Florida Fiber-In and release after that (what, what?!).

In yarn, I'm winding a few skeins of Midnight Garden every day (and falling more and more in love with it as I do). Tomorrow I'll take count of the last of the pre-orders and as soon as I'm done making soap, I'll dye up the last of those. I'm also debating trying to put out a new colorway (technically bringing in an old club colorway) that I've been putting off working on just because I haven't had the time... but if I squeeze it in within the next week or two, I could bring it in and debut it at Fiber-In, in September.

In HaldeCrate, today is the last day to pre-order Midnight Garden, and the first day to pre-order the October HaldeCrate. I'll have more of a post about that one tomorrow! I'm glazing the last of the teacups (which are completely sold out - there won't be any extras of those) and counting to see if I'll have any extra soap dishes and getting ready to glaze those as well. The lotion and the lip balms are all made, but I do need to make some more soap (I'm working on that this week as well - it's a heavy soap week which means my studio smells fantastic right now!).

In other things... I just bought my September spots for advertising on Ravelry, which means that within the next two or three weeks I have to do up those ads. What will I be advertising? Same as usual... I do one general ad for HaldeCraft yarns and yarn-themed things, and then one ad for club/HaldeCrate. Because I'll be at the stage of advertising the next HaldeCrate wherein I'll be showing off the yarn.... in the next couple of weeks I need to test-dye that yarn, make sure I'm happy with my idea, and if so, dye one of every skein and put the ad together. This is just a little drop of insight into how I have to plan ahead... so in a couple of weeks when I start talking about things I'm planning for the Fall/Winter holiday season....? I'm not trying to rush the holidays, believe me... I'm just trying to stay a bit ahead of the calendar! Speaking of calendars, I'm spending a lot of time with my trusty journal this week, after having a bit of a panic attack about where 2018 has gone and good golly what do I have to show for it (a lot) and what about my plans for this year (looking good) and can I finish everything I wanted to finish this year (signs point to yes). My journal/planner tells me there's nothing to panic about so shut it, lady, haha. And lastly... I'm still knitting along on a pair of socks that I'm trying out an idea for a pattern with. Fifth time is the charm....?

That's it for me... what about y'all? What are you working on this week? What's filling your days?
