Works-in-Progress Wednesday (10/05/16)

What are you working on this week? I'm mostly all about soap and yarn, but one full eye is being kept on Hurricane Matthew, who looks like a beast. A BEAST, Y'ALL!

In ceramics, the only thing I'm doing this week is trying desperately this morning to finish glazing a few pieces so that I can justify firing the kiln for one custom order that's embarrassingly late (I would have had it done in reasonable time, but there was a problem with it the first time I made it, so I'm making it again). Hurricane Matthew is messing with my firing schedule, because I don't want to fire on a day when I am pretty sure we might lose power. Thanks, Mother Nature!

In soap, I'm working on some Thanksgiving guest sets -- I'll have two of them (unlike just one set for Halloween) but like the Halloween ones there will only be about 12 per set. Fragrances in one will include Autumn Afternoon, Cranberry, Cranberry Chutney, Gingersnap, Pumpkin Spice, and Applejack... and the second set will have Pumpkin Crunch Cake, Harvest Spice, Thanksgiving Morning, Apple Harvest, Apple & Oak, and Fresh Baked Bread. OM NOM NOM. I also just finished wrapping a small bit of restocks I made last week. A couple of them I was out of, but most of what I made last week I was down to only one of in stock, and I went ahead and made more in preparation for the holidays (and an open house I'm having next week, if we don't blow away in the Hurricane!).

Mostly I'm all about yarn this week! I'm dyeing some Blue Jean restocks, because I'm almost completely sold out (thanks, y'all! I'm so glad you love her as much as I do!) and I'm working on winding and photographing Golden Years. I was going to release Golden Years on Friday (Blue Jean restocks will take another couple of days to dry and won't be ready yet) but since Hurricane Matthew is supposed to blow through all day on Friday, I don't even know if we'll have electricity. And I don't want to do a major release and then wind up not having power to be able to get online and help anyone with problems, or answer questions, or even be able to put your orders together. So I'm afraid that thanks to Matthew, Golden Years may be delayed until at least Monday (depending on how bad the storm is - we didn't even lose power for the hurricane a few weeks ago, but I remember a few years ago when Francis came through and we didn't have power for a week. So it's hard to put definite timelines on things!).

And that's about it for me. Everything I'm doing is with one eye on the Hurricane and seeing where NOAA says it's going to go - because that'll dictate whether I can keep working or whether we need to move three dogs, six cats, and four people into my studio for a day. GOOD TIMES, YO. GOOD TIMES. So what about y'all? Life goes on outside of my world, so... what are y'all working on this week?
